Acne(acne vulgaris) is extremely common condition, generally starts after puberty. It is chronic inflammation of the pilosebaceous units. It is developed due to excess sebum production, hormonal effects (increase androgen and progestogens) etc.. Acne usually affects the face and the trunk.

In Ayurveda, acne has been described as a yovanpidika(Mukhadushika), which is elaborated as one of the kshudra rogas. In Ayurveda, acne is caused due to vitiation of Kapha, Vata and Rakta.

Symptoms (Lakshana)

·      Ruja(mild pain)

·      Ghan sparsha (hard and firm touch)

·      Medogarbha (sebum filled inside it)

·      Shape like shalmali kantak(thron like)

Treatment

·      Shodhana chikitsa (vamana etc..)

·      Shamana chikitsa
