Janu means Knee Joint and Basti means to hold (compartment which holds)
The Procedure of applying heat to the knee region by retaining warm medicated oil with in a specially formed frame on the knee area is known as a Janu Basti.
Procedure
- A frame of Black gram paste ( Udad ) is made around the Knee region.
- Warm medicated oil is poured into this frame.
- This warm medicated oil heats the Knee region inducing perspiration.
- This is followed by massage and fomentation to this part.
- Whenever the oil poured in the beginning gets cooled, oil is taken out from the frame and add the fresh warm medicated oil.
- Repeat this process
* Procedure Time – 30 to 40 Minutes
